Nationally televised games? Check. Conference championship? Yup. March Madness / The Big Dance? Why not?
The CBU Lancers women marched into the Division I NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history against the UCLA Bruins. The Lancers earned the berth by winning every home game, winning the league outright, and then sweeping through the WAC championship tournament in Las Vegas to grab the coveted post-season bid. More than 4000 Lancer fans stormed into Pauley Pavilion in Westwood, loudly announcing CBU’s arrival onto the biggest stage in college basketball.
Led by senior post player Grace Schmidt the Lancers look to continue their high-flying, fast-paced, and exciting brand of basketball. You might have heard about their success last season. Today, these ladies aren't a secret anymore and the entire division is officially put on notice – The Lancers are rebuilt and poised for another championship run.
